THE EPISODE
Songs in the Key of Free is a non-profit organization that worked with inmates at SCI Greaterford, a prison in Philadelphia, to write and record music. Weathervane is working with them to record “Welcome Home,” a song written by one of the men that participated in their workshops and is serving out a life sentence.
This episode will tell the story of his involvement with Songs in the Key of Free and explore the impact that access to self expression has had on his life and the lives of the other residents.
THE BAND
We will be recording Songs in the Key of Free’s “Outside Band,” a group of performers made up of the organization's volunteers, founders, guest musicians, and past participants in their workshops on the inside.
